Meet Madeline

Birth Doula and Childbirth Educator

Hi there! I’m Madeline Schulle (she/her)! My husband Bryan and I live in Colorado Springs with our two passionate, generous, thoughtful kiddos. I have alopecia and I am your friendly, neighborhood, wig-wearing doula. I am a "replanted" Coloradan, and I have loved getting to be a part of creating an amazing community of birth workers and new families here in Colorado Springs. My own little family loves quiet time at home, trips to Costco, and raucous family game nights.

After my daughter was born in February 2016, I discovered how much I love birth and pregnancy. I took a birth class during my pregnancy and hired a doula, and had what I refer to as “the most uneventful hospital birth.” During my first postpartum months, I began devouring birth-related information as quickly as I could find it. I attended the birth of a dear friend in October 2016, and it was down the rabbit hole for me! I trained as a doula and instructor in summer of 2017 and have been attending births and teaching families since then.

I loved my birth experiences, and I believe that everyone deserves a birth experience in which they feel loved and supported and empowered. Birth is an extremely important event in a person’s life, and everyone deserves to have an amazing one. While I absolutely love working with first-time parents, I also have a soft spot for VBACs (vaginal birth after cesarean) and parents who are birthing after loss. It is such a joy to get to a part of the triumphant and redemptive moments that birth gives to us.

My goal as a doula is to provide educational, emotional, and hands-on support to all types of families to help them have the birth experience they are hoping for. LGBTQIA+ families and families of color are underserved and underrepresented in the birth community, and I am honored to serve both. Surrogacy and parents journeying through fertility treatments are also close to my heart. Whatever shape or form your pregnancy comes in, I love getting to partner with families through the intensity and strength that birth requires, and watching them grow together! I love to attend births in all settings, whether you’re hoping to birth in your living room, a birthing suite, or an operating room.

I love getting to teach birth classes with my clients to encourage them to make empowered decisions for their families. I have a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education, so while I’m not using that in a traditional classroom, I love what it brought me as I’ve transitioned to teaching adults about pregnancy, birth, and babies! Each class in our childbirth education series teaches a variety of tools, skills, and variations of labor, so you won't be caught unawares during the incredible and intense events of labor and birth. I love getting to teach with my doula friends as a part of The Little Blooming Warriors Birth Collective. With our full curriculum of childbirth education, newborn care and breastfeeding, and postpartum preparation classes, we have tried to fill as many of the gaps as we can see in perinatal education in Colorado Springs. I love to hear families tell me they felt prepared for whatever pregnancy, birth, and postpartum might bring them after attending our classes.

Birth is intense, possibly the most intense thing you will ever do. But it is beautiful, every single time. Contact me today to schedule your free consultation! I'm so excited to be involved in your Birth Day!

What Madeline’s Clients Are Saying

“Madeline was very warm, kind, and nurturing and her outlook on birth and interventions (or lack of) was very evidence (not fear!) based. She was also very experienced and professional and I knew she would have the tools to help me have the birth center birth I wanted.”

— Emma

“Madeline became a part of our family somewhere in the middle of the birth classes. We couldn’t have picked a better doula for our birth and we hope to hire her again in the future. I could talk for hours about how important of a role she played on our BIRTH-day, but she would find a way to turn it around and praise me as the mother, my support partner and our baby. She has perfected her role as a doula and we love her!”
